Stephens County Historical Society began its efforts to have a tribute to Stephens County and its people with our museum back in 1974. Our museum has grown over the years and now is time to expand our exhibits in a new larger facility. Our current exhibits are dedicated to persons that have made a significance on Stephens County and the world. Now you can help the museum to grow and be available to share our stories for years to come. We will have a Memorial Walk at the Museum, that you will be able to show your interest and support of the museum or individuals that have made an impact on you. We are offering to you a place in history. Brick pavers are on display showing supporters, your name, or honor someone special in your life, a parent, grandparent, veteran, business, etc. . We would like to have on display any solider or veteran especially those with ties to Stephens County and Toccoa. . Also to be remembered are the Men that trained at Camp Toccoa during WWII. Paratroopers of the 501st, 506th, 511th, 295th Ordnance Heavy Maintenance Company and the 517th are to be remembered for their war time efforts and their place in history. Examples: Groups, organizations, churches, military units, clubs, individuals, parents, children, grandparents, county and city officials (past and present), schools, business, etc. The Memorial Walk will be on display at a prominent place at our Museum and Chamber of Commerce office in historic downtown Toccoa.
